1. Breville Bambino Plus
Despite its cute name the Bambino Plus is a serious espresso machine. It's packed with features that make it a good choice for anyone who wants to upgrade from the standard Breville espresso machines or who want an option that is more automated than a manual.
It comes with a PID controller to do the heavy lifting of temperature and pressure control so that it's ready for brewing the moment you press the button. It also uses the technology known as Thermo Jet that lets it heat up in only 3 seconds, which means you can make your espresso quicker than other home espresso machines (which take between 10 and 30 minutes to warm up).
This machine is built with simplicity in mind, which is why there's only one button that can control everything. You can select one shot or a double shot and set the brewing time which isn't something you can do with other espresso machines at this price. The polished stainless steel finish gives it a classy look, and the small size makes it ideal for anyone with small countertop space or a tight kitchen.
The Bambino Plus also comes with all the equipment you require to get started brewing, such as a metal 54 mm tamper and a dose trimmer tool. This is the only machine of its kind to do this. It shows how Breville intends to ensure that their products are as secure and reliable as is possible. It also comes with built-in reminders to clean and descale to ensure it runs smoothly.
The Bambino Plus may be the most basic espresso machine for those new to the world of espresso. It's easy to use, warms up quickly, and then automatically texts milk for you. Its price is out of reach for many people.
2. De'Longhi Stilosa
The De'Longhi Stilosa manual espresso machine is an affordable, well-rounded option that's perfect for both beginners and coffee enthusiasts. It's user-friendly and looks good on the countertop, and makes excellent espresso, cappuccinos and lattes. However, it does have a few disadvantages that need to be thought about.
In our brewing metrics, the Stilosa scored below average to average for its quality of brewing and its control. This was due to the small size of the filter baskets and the absence of temperature control, which limit your ability to customize the extraction process. We were impressed by the fact that this machine can be heated quickly and that the spout is able to be adjusted to a good height.
It also comes with a handy water tank that can hold up to 34 ounces and comes with a built-in indicator for the level to tell you when it's time to refill. It's removable and can be used in the event that you want to clean the tank, or if there's no sink close by. Another feature new to this model is a removable drip tray that lets you put taller cups on the spout.
Stilosa was also a disappointment on our steaming metrics. This resulted from its lack of control of the temperature of steam, and lack of pre-infusion functions. Both of these are features that are common in machines that cost more. Despite these shortcomings, we appreciated that it is easy to maintain and comes with a 1-year warranty. In terms of price and performance, the De'Longhi Stilosa makes a great addition to any coffee bar. It's a little simpler to use than the other models we've tested, and will reduce the cost of paying for cafe drinks.
3. Breville Barista Express Impress
The Breville Barista Express Impress (that's a mouthful, don't you think?) is a machine specifically designed for those who are interested in learning about espresso. This single boiler, pumps-driven machine is designed to make it simple for anyone to pull an espresso shot without sacrificing flavor and consistency of the brewing.
First of all it takes the guesswork out of adjusting the grinder, tamper and brew group settings with its simple-to-use controls. You can select between double or single shots, and your preferred temperature. The thermocoil heater built-in guarantees that your espresso will be ready to drink in just 30 seconds. This is a lot faster than the typical wait of 30 minutes single boiler machines require to reach temperature.
The "impressive" dosing-and-tamping device, which works with the tamper adjusts the amount of ground coffee for each shot. This system uses a sensor to measure the basket depth and adjusts how much ground coffee is dispensed. If you're less confident about your ability to control manually the size of the grind, the water temperature and dosing, the machine comes with a variety of presets that can help.
Finally, the Barista Express Impress includes the infamous single-hole steam wand that can produce some impressive Latte art, too. This is the same wand that you'll find in Breville’s high-end Barista Express machines, and it's great.
I'm not a big advocate for coffee shortcuts, fully automatic machines or even pods however, the Impress does exactly what it's supposed to do without becoming daunting or removing the pleasure of making an excellent espresso. I'm pleased with it and give it a thumbs up!
4. Diletta Mio
The Diletta Mio makes a great choice for home baristas who are adamant about quality, design and user-friendliness. Its sleek design, professional grade components and constant performance make it a striking addition to your coffee area. It's also a good option for beginners who want to understand the basics of steaming and espresso without getting overwhelmed by the complexity of programming and programming.
The brew heater controlled by PID is among its most impressive features. It ensures rapid warm-up times and stable temperature water. This is especially important for espresso drinks, as even tiny variations in temperature of the water can have a huge impact on the taste and quality of your beverage.
espresso machines for home Coffeee is Diletta's separate thermoblock for steaming, which allows you to prepare espresso and steam milk simultaneously. This is a huge time-saver and helps to ensure that your milk has the perfect texture for your drinks. It also saves energy by only consuming energy when it is needed.
This machine also features an indicator of pressure at the head of the group, which is a nice feature that lets you track your extraction pressure in real-time. You can adjust the OPV to fine-tune the extraction, which provides you with a level of customization that's typically reserved for more expensive machines.

The Diletta also comes with an accessible side-by-side, easy-to-clean water tank, as well as an energy-saving mode that can be adjusted in increments of 10 minutes to 2 hours. Its insulated boiler wrap further reduces heat loss. Its dual-temperature system minimizes static electricity, resulting in less waste and lower energy costs.
Some users have complained about the long repair times and poor durability of this machine. In addition, some have received poor customer service from Diletta and have had trouble solving warranty issues.
5. Jura E8
This high-end super-automatic machine is capable of offering many different specialty drinks that can be made with a single button. It also makes macchiatos, ristrettos and cappuccinos, flat whites and teas, as well as plain hot chocolate, plain coffee and plain espresso. Its modern brewing technology and stylish color display are just some of the features that distinguish this machine from other machines.
The E8 utilizes the Aroma G3 grinder to grind whole beans quickly and precisely. It has eight grind settings, which might seem like a lot if compared to other super automatics with just three or four. The higher range allows you to regulate the size and consistency of your cup, which is crucial for a good cup.
In addition to the powerful burr grinder, the Jura E8 has an intelligent pre-infusion system as well as a pulse extraction process, both responsible for creating a high-quality cup of espresso every time. The PEP process is a method of forcing water through ground coffee in short bursts, which allows the flavors to be fully extracted. The resultant cup is richer and fuller as well as more flavorful than your typical instant coffee that comes from a Keurig.
The Jura E8 can make a variety of drinks, and it does this very well. It produces a strong, smooth cappuccino and an excellent espresso. The only downside is that it's unable to make a proper latte, which requires the pressure of steam boilers to make an extremely thick foam.
This machine is not as difficult to clean as most super automatics. It will automatically clean and descale after every use and it can be programmed to perform more thorough cleaning at least every two years. It will also remind you to change the filter every 80 drinks.
